We use only professional-grade window film installed by experienced technicians. Every job is performed with the attention and precision your vehicle deserves.

WHAT YOU GAIN
Six Real Benefits of Professional Auto Tinting
Every benefit listed here is backed by the performance specs of the film we install, not generic marketing language.
UV Ray Elimination
Professional window film blocks up to 99% of UVA and UVB rays, protecting your skin on long commutes and preventing interior fading on your dash, seats, and door panels year after year.
Dramatic Heat Reduction
A properly tinted cabin can be measurably cooler when you get in on a hot Rockledge afternoon. Less cabin heat means your A/C works less and your fuel economy improves over time.
Privacy and Security
Window tint makes it significantly harder for strangers to see into your vehicle, whether you're parked at a mall in Rockledge or leaving valuables in your back seat while you run errands.
Shatter Resistance
Window film holds broken glass together in an accident or break-in. It won't stop glass from cracking, but it dramatically reduces the risk of injury from glass fragments flying into the cabin.
Interior Preservation
UV exposure and excess heat are the primary culprits behind cracked dashboards, faded upholstery, and warped trim. Tinting extends the life of your interior and protects your vehicle's resale value.
Glare Reduction
Florida's morning and late-afternoon sun creates driving conditions that are genuinely dangerous. Window film cuts glare sharply, reducing eye strain and improving visibility on every commute.

BY THE NUMBERS
The Difference Professional Tint Actually Makes
These figures reflect real-world performance from the professional-grade film our team installs, not brochure estimates from a manufacturer's marketing sheet.
When Brevard County temperatures hit the 90s in July, the gap between a tinted and untinted vehicle isn't just about comfort. It's measurable heat, daily UV exposure, and cumulative interior damage happening every single time your car sits in the sun.

FLORIDA TINT LAW
We Keep You Street-Legal. Every Time.
Florida enforces specific VLT (Visible Light Transmission) requirements for every window position on every vehicle type. Installing film that falls outside those limits risks a fine and a mandatory re-do at your expense.
At Tommy Tints, Florida's tint laws are built into our process. Every job we complete is verified against state requirements before you drive away from our Rockledge shop. You'll never leave with illegal tint installed.
Important Note
Legal VLT limits differ between sedans and SUVs/trucks, and they vary by window position. We verify your specific vehicle requirements before every install — not after.
| Window Position |
Vehicle Type |
Legal VLT Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Windshield | All Vehicles | Non-reflective above AS-1 line only |
| Front Side Windows | Sedans | 28% VLT |
| Front Side Windows | SUVs & Trucks | 28% VLT |
| Rear Side Windows | Sedans | 15% VLT |
| Rear Side Windows | SUVs & Trucks | 6% VLT |
| Rear Window | Sedans | 15% VLT |
| Rear Window | SUVs & Trucks | 6% VLT |
VLT = Visible Light Transmission. Lower percentage = darker tint. Florida law is subject to change — we always confirm current requirements before any installation.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Auto Window Tinting FAQ
Real answers to the questions Rockledge and Brevard County car owners ask most before booking their tint installation.
How long does auto window tinting take?
Most passenger cars take 2 to 3 hours. SUVs, trucks, and vehicles with complex rear window shapes may run 3 to 4 hours. We'll give you an accurate time estimate when you book so you can plan your day around the appointment.
How long before I can roll my windows down after tinting?
Wait at least 3 full days before rolling your windows down. The film's adhesive needs time to bond completely to the glass. Rolling windows down too soon is one of the most common causes of edge peeling, and it's entirely preventable.
Is window tinting legal in Florida?
Yes, within specific limits. Florida law permits front side windows at 28% VLT minimum, and rear side and back windows at 15% VLT for sedans or 6% VLT for SUVs and trucks. Every job we complete is verified against Florida's current tint law before you leave our shop, guaranteed street-legal.
What's the difference between carbon and ceramic film?
Carbon film is a high-performing mid-range film with strong heat and UV rejection and a clean matte finish that holds its color over time. Ceramic film is the top-tier option; it delivers the highest heat rejection available, superior optical clarity, and zero signal interference. Both are excellent; ceramic is the better choice if maximum cabin comfort is your priority.
Will ceramic window tint block my GPS or phone signal?
No. Ceramic film contains no metal, which means it does not interfere with GPS, Bluetooth, cell signal, radar detectors, or any electronic system in your vehicle. This is one of the main advantages ceramic has over older metallic films, which could cause signal issues. You get maximum performance without any electronic trade-offs.
How long does window tint last?
Professional-grade film installed correctly lasts many years. Dyed film typically lasts 3 to 5 years before showing signs of fading. Carbon film holds up well for 5 to 10 years. Ceramic film, installed properly, can last well over a decade. Cheap aftermarket film bought online and self-applied tends to bubble, peel, or purple-fade within 1 to 2 years.
Can window tint be removed if I want to undo it?
Yes. Window film can be removed professionally without damaging the glass. We strongly advise against DIY removal — improper technique frequently leaves adhesive residue on the glass and risks scratching the window. If you need tint removed, call us and we'll handle it cleanly.
What causes window tint to bubble or peel?
Bubbling and peeling are almost always the result of poor installation, low-quality film, or both. Common culprits include inadequate surface prep before application, film that wasn't trimmed precisely to the glass edge, rolling windows down before the adhesive has fully cured, or using harsh cleaning chemicals on the tint after installation. A proper professional install — using quality film — eliminates all of these failure points.
Is there a haziness or cloudiness right after installation?
Yes, and it's completely normal. During the first few days after installation you may notice a slight milky haze or small water pockets under the film. This is residual moisture from the installation process that evaporates as the film cures. It typically clears within 3 to 7 days depending on weather. Do not try to push out bubbles or squeegee the glass during this period.
How do I clean my windows after getting them tinted?
Wait at least two weeks before cleaning tinted windows. After that, use a soft microfiber cloth and an ammonia-free window cleaner. Ammonia-based products degrade window film adhesive over time and will cause premature peeling. Never use rough scrubbing pads, steel wool, or abrasive cleaning tools on tinted glass.
Can you tint my windshield?
Florida law only allows non-reflective tint on the top portion of the windshield above the AS-1 line — typically the top four to six inches. This strip helps reduce glare from overhead sunlight. Tinting the full windshield in any shade is not legal in Florida and we do not install it. We'll show you exactly what's permissible on your windshield during your estimate.
Does window tint actually make a difference in Florida's heat?
Measurably, yes. Quality window film — particularly carbon or ceramic — can reduce the solar heat entering your vehicle by 40 to 60 percent. In practical terms, that translates to a noticeably cooler cabin temperature when you get in, less A/C strain during your drive, and meaningful protection from UV exposure on long commutes through Brevard County.
What if I'm not happy with the installation?
We do a complete walkthrough inspection with you before you leave the shop specifically so any issues can be caught and addressed on the spot. If an installation defect appears after the curing period — genuine bubbling, lifting edges, or inconsistencies caused by our process — we'll make it right. Our reputation in Rockledge depends on every job leaving our shop correctly.
Do you offer fleet tinting for businesses in Rockledge?
Yes. If you manage a fleet of work vehicles in Rockledge or anywhere in Brevard County, we offer fleet pricing and can schedule multiple vehicles to minimize business downtime. Call us directly at (321) 487-7939 to discuss your fleet size and we'll put together a custom quote.
How much does auto window tinting cost in Rockledge, FL?
Pricing depends on the vehicle type, the number of windows, and the film selected. A standard sedan with carbon film is priced differently than a full-size SUV with ceramic film. We don't publish flat rates online because we don't believe in quoting prices before we know your vehicle. What we can promise: our pricing is transparent, our estimates are free, and there are no hidden fees or bait-and-switch charges on any job we take. Call (321) 487-7939 or use our free estimate form to get your number.
